A significant number of area families face financial instability because of job loss and unemployment. Even those with jobs struggle to pay bills and put food on the table. My 2-1-1
United Way of LaPorte County funds a 2-1-1 Call Center that has served local residents since 2010, with financial support from the Duneland Health Council and Unity Foundation. The 2-1-1 Call Center is a free service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Community members seeking help with utilities, housing, transportation, food and other basic needs can find answers by making a single phone call. Dialing 2-1-1 will put them in touch with trained specialists who can refer them to social service resources in our area.


What is 2-1-1?
United Way 2-1-1 is the bridge between you and the answers you need to find local services, from general community information to counselling, food, clothing, after-school programs, shelter, legal and financial assistance, and much more.  2-1-1 is fast, convenient and designed with you in mind.


Call Center:
By dialling 2-1-1, you are linked to a live, highly-trained Information & Referral Specialist who will assess your needs and match you to the best resource in your community. Assistance is confidential and offered in both English and Spanish.


Online Database and Highlighted Programs:
United Way 2-1-1 offers a comprehensive online database of 4,000 + agencies and over 8,000 programs and services spanning a six county area. You can search by location, service category, service term, or agency to find the community resources you need.

In Times of Disaster:
During a disaster, United Way 2-1-1 works with each participating County's Office of Emergency Services (9-1-1) to provide information to the community and trend analysis results to County officials, report unmet community needs, and act as a central communications service for various community agencies and non-governmental organizations.


Community Assessment:
United Way 2-1-1 reliably tracks needs and provides social service, education and church leadership with needs assessments that allow them to address emerging social trends in real time.
