United Way of LaPorte County Board

 
An 17-member volunteer Board of Directors exercises total decision making and policy setting authority over the United Way of LaPorte County. These volunteers come from all walks of life throughout LaPorte County and are accountable to the people of this community. When people or firms contribute to the United Way campaign, their funds come under the stewardship of these volunteers who work diligently to keep necessary costs to a minimum. Publisher, Herald Argus/The News Dispatch

Bill Hackney has been the publisher of the Herald-Argus and The News Dispatch since January 2011. Previously Bill has served as publisher and general manager in Fond du Lac and Manitowoc Wisconsin. He has held management positions in the newspapers in Pennsylvania, Missouri, Wisconsin and now in Indiana. He started his career in Uniontown, Pennsylvania over 35 years ago.

Bill has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Operations from Penn State University. He has been a graduate assistant for Dale Carnegie Public speaking courses in Pennsylvania. He and his wife Debbie plan to reside in LaPorte County upon the sale of their home in Wisconsin.

Bill has served on the Board of Directors at United Way, American Red Cross, Heart Association, Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin Maritime Museum and Capital Civic Center. He has served as a Board of Directors member and President of the Manitowoc Rotary and is currently on the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
