United Way of LaPorte County Board

 
An 17-member volunteer Board of Directors exercises total decision making and policy setting authority over the United Way of LaPorte County. These volunteers come from all walks of life throughout LaPorte County and are accountable to the people of this community. When people or firms contribute to the United Way campaign, their funds come under the stewardship of these volunteers who work diligently to keep necessary costs to a minimum. Dan DobbinsBoard Member

President, Fiber Bond Corporation

Dan Dobbins has been the President of Fiber Bond Corporation, located in Michigan City, since December 2008. Fiber Bond is a manufacturer of air filtration products and industrial textile media. Prior to that, Dan was Senior Vice President of Western Nonwovens where he managed the Industrial Textiles Division. Dan has worked for manufacturing companies in the chemical, furniture, wire harness and textile industries for thirty years, progressing from accounting and systems positions to general and executive management.

Dan has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Management from McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, and his Masters in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University. Dan is also a non-licensed CPA in the state of Illinois.

Dan has been a board member of McKendree University since 1987. He is currently serving his fourth year as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He has also served as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer of the Board and chaired the Finance, Development and Presidential Search committees. Dan was recognized as a Corporate Achiever by the St. Louis Multiple Sclerosis office for his fundraising efforts on their behalf. He served on city planning commissions, school finance committees and has been a volunteer coach for youth basketball teams for a number of schools and programs.

Dan and his wife Mickey continue to have a second residence in O'Fallon, Illinois, and have a daughter, Allison, attending Physical Therapy School at St. Louis University.
