LaTasha & La’Tashja
Meet LaTasha and vibrant 2-year-old daughter La’Tashja. Although being a teen mom has its challenges, LaTasha is determined to finish her education and create a bright future for La’Tashja and herself. Thanks to loving support from multiple United Way programs, she receives free daycare, healthcare, parenting classes, and in-home visits, enabling her to stay in school and be the best mom she can be. LaTasha is looking forward to high school graduation next spring. |

Jeff & Stacey
Meet Jeff and his wife Stacey. Although he was born developmentally disabled, Jeff is living the life he dreamed of thanks, in part, to the help he received from United Way. When Jeff was just eight months old, his parents learned of Barker Woods Enrichment Center - a United Way agency. There, Jeff learned the skills necessary for him to attend a mainstream kindergarten where he continued through high school graduation. |

Pauline
This is Pauline. Having just turned 100, she’ll tell you that she loves the simple things in life, like reading the morning paper and sipping her favorite cup of coffee. What’s better for Pauline is that she can still do this on her own – even in her own kitchen. It’s all because she gets a helping hand from the LaPorte Meals on Wheels Program. For Pauline, life couldn’t be any better. |

Kendrick & Ben
Meet Kendrick and his best buddy, Michigan City Police Chief, Ben Neitzel. They’ve been friends since 2005 when they met through Hours for Ours, a LaPorte County mentoring program sponsored by United Way. Together, they toss around everything from a football to new additions to Kendrick’s vocabulary. That’s because although Kendrick enjoys football, he has bigger plans of being a doctor someday. As for Ben, he has plans to be right by Kendrick’s side for it all. |
