Some parents cannot assist their children with homework because they cannot read well enough to understand the assignment.
Some residents cannot complete job applications because they cannot read or write well enough.
Some cannot pass the test for a driver's license and some cannot read the directions for medications for themselves or for their children.
The list goes on.
