UW designation policy

Gifts designated to other not-for-profit organizations through the annual United Way of La Porte County campaign that meet the following criteria will be allowed:

·        The gift is a one-time donation (not a pledge). One-time donations to other organizations will be “passed through” to the organization of the donor’s choice with NO processing fee subtracted from the gift amount. Also, if the organization designated to receive the gift is a United Way of La Porte County “funded partner organization” through our annual allocation process, these gifts will be “in addition to” the organization’s allocation from United Way of La Porte County.

·        Pledged gifts can ONLY be made to “funded partner organizations” who receive allocations from United Way of La Porte County (usually on a monthly basis). However, because we are no longer able to track “paid pledges”, these gifts will be “first dollar in” toward the organizations promised allocation. These gifts help off-set the cost of the allocation but DO NOT increase the allocation to the designated organization.
